Freda’s Walnut Pound Cake

6 eggs

1/2 lb butter

1/2 cup shortening

3 cups sugar

1 cup sweet milk

1 tsp vanilla

3 cups sifted all purp. flour

1/2 tsp. baking powder

pinch salt

1 cup black walnuts

Cream butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy; add vanilla.  Blend well; add eggs (1 at a time).  Continue beating after each addition.  Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.  Add alternately to creamed mixture with milk.  Pour into greased and floured tube pan. 

Bake at 325 degrees for 1   1/2 hours or until done.  You may use walnut flavoring instead of vanilla.
